So you all know DOT 5 will take the clear right off... all it needs is about 2 hours to do the damage.

Ahhhhhhhh........................
That F'n sucks
When I had my 03 chopper I was droppin a babe off at her house after a ride, lived on a damn dirt road. She wouldn't let me go without a hug so I half ass get off my bike, turn slightly to get this inconvienience out of the way, just to turn around and see my dog laying on her side. Fortunately it was only a couple of parts that I had to replace. Miraculously the paint didn't get damaged.

Its funny though how in that brief moment, with her layng on her side in the dirt and all that dust flying around, she looked like a cheap crack whore

Wha....Oh shit was that out loud.....oh hell no not my Dog the chick I was dropping off:roll::roll::roll::roll:

If this won't make you cry nothing will!

Couple hours pass, I head back out to the garage to head out again. HERE IT COMES - The front brake master cylinder has leaked brake fluid all over my tank and the paint has peeled like a sunburned chicken!

After I throw my guts up on the garage floor and a psychotic hour of screaming and throwing everything near me, Carrie my wife, finally risks entering the garage and hugs me while I have an emotional break down.

Once I stop shaking I take the master cylinder off and the piston falls out in my hand. (TAKE NOTE: THIS WAS A BRAND NEW "CHROME BD" FORWARD CONTROL")

Lesson learned lady's and gents - trust nothing new, check it all over 1st before installing it. Strange thing is when we did a bleed on the front brake it seemed a little soft, however it built pressure when pulled about 1/2 way back.

I'm in a very bad place right now... I feel bad for me, Ed and the walls in my garage. Life goes one.
Wow sorry to hear that - I would have emptied my xanax bottle over that one. You can bet that everyone on this thread ran out to their garage and checked their front master cylinder or covered their tank up...hang in there buddy!

Sorry to hear about both of these stories….hope it all works out.
Little story about a “Near Miss”. I was in Leopoldsburg Belgium for their annual rally which is a kick ass party. They close the entire downtown area to all the cagers. On one of the corners H.A. had taken over the entire street and sidewalk on both sides. They were about 100 strong and having a good time. They would block all the bikes that had women on them and make the women flash before they would allow the bikes to pass. Along with that, they had super soakers and the ground was wet. I pulled up and the wife was more than happy to oblige them but I lost my footing on the wet surface. In my mind everything happened so fast but my foot went out from under me and my HD Deuce was on her way down. Somehow, a 6’3” bald H.A. member caught my bike on the right side. He literally lifted the bike back upright while blocking me and my wife from falling off. He burned his arms a little on the pipes and motor but saved me a lot of ass pain.

Shit dude, I freakin hate to hear it. Those pics and paint job made a very boring winter entertaining to me.

Do I dare ask for pics?

brake fluid no matter whether 3 or 5 will tear some paint up...it will curl the factory paint off the inside motor compartment of any vehicle....let alone aftermarket paint......
I am really sorry to hear of your dilemna...

That sucks!!! Had something similar happen to a sport bike a few years ago. Ruined the plastic faring, so I had to buy new ones.
