TP107 Top end rebuild ??? with pics

I was looking for a little opinion and direction on my rebuild. Originally I was

just fixing base gaskets but it looks like I need rings. Does anyone know where

I can get some? Pic #2 shows a rocker cover bolt that I had to hack up two

allen wrenches to get out. How can I torque this when I reassemble? Pic #3

shows two gaskets that I don't have, I am assuming these are specific to

Edlebrock heads. Pic #4 is the gasket set that came with the bike and pic #5

is my progress so far.

My wife is gone for 4 days so instead of doing this in my well stocked shop I

set up in the garage so I can work while the kids are sleeping. I just knocked

them out with some venison burritos and I am headed out to finish the rear

head and pull the jugs. I really appreciate any help!

How do the sides of the pistons look? is there any blow by past the rings? are the pistons wearing into the cylinders? I am in the middle of doing a top end on my bike right now, I am no expert by far but the tops of the piston tend to be pretty nasty. I replaced my pistons due to wear on the back of the piston. Just figured while I was at it might as well. I called S&S and bought the top end rebuild kit, the kit they sent me included new gaskets. Personally I would not re-use the gasket as a matter of fact I was told not too. others may chime in on that.

My piston skirts and cylinders look great, no scuffing. I was under the impression if you

don't get an even burn that it's blowing by. I have some clean edges and a lot of black crud

build up that I was assuming was burnt oil. It would be great if I don't need rings!

While you have it down might as well rebuild the top end...have the heads done and bore the cylinders .010" over and a new set of pistons and rings...I spent around $300 for my local machine shop to do the machining, when I did the top end on my 107"

Pictures don't look unusal to me. Definitely go back with new gaskets and I prefer the multi-layered head gaskets. Depending on your budget make the decision to bore and re-ring, there wouldn't be a better time though since you already have it tore down.

Before I pulled it apart I thought it was too lean? If I stab the carb between shifts it

coughs through the carb sometimes. This gets way worse if it's really cold out so I thought

it was lean.
