If TP was ok they wouldn't have stopped putting them on half way through production in 06! I got my bike with 3k miles on it and it used a few ounces of oil every time I road it. I changed out my TP's at about 12k and just rebuilt my top end at 18k had two bad valve guides still breaking in but not using a drop now.
