600 and up cams really start needing extra mods to make them useful.
If all you want is that little bit that is missing from the stock 117 then the 585 is all you need to do.

I have a 107, and I am still not sure what cam I have in it.. ha but it seams to pull good up top!

As long as it wasn't changed already you can call S&S, give them your engine case number and they will tell you what it was built out with.
Hummm....... Sorry Curtis, but it´s not that easy... S&S will tell you that BDM were doing their own things.... I could not find out till I opened the motor... they (S&S) told me 546 maybe... I did find a Comp-Cams 569 in there.

Ok... I have an '06 Mastiff with TP rocker boxes.
I'm leaking oil out of the rear one.
I purchased S&S rocker boxes already.

1 - what else do I need to buy before I start the project?
2 - is there any chance it already has the 585 cam?
3 - where should I get the 585 cam?

If you are the original owner and the motor has not been touched, there is no way you already have the 585. I bet you will have a 569 in there.

I would contact the reputable vendors in this Forum.... I got it cheaper than that, but that was two years ago.

Since you doing the Rocker Boxes conversion, I would put new lifters too, I got the Fueling brand.

John...I was looking forward to finally meeting you during Bike Week. Any chance you'll be coming up for Leesburg?
I arrived at my buddies house in Debary 3/10 early (9:00 am) so we could make the Hamster ride leaving from the White Eagle bar at 11:30. About 60 bikes, 90 mile ride ending at a home on Lake Harris. :2thumbs: Only time I was around town, was Thursday, visiting several shops I do heads for, the Speedway , Destination, and the Cabbage Patch.
Wednesday and Friday, just riding the back roads, including Gator Joe's.
Possibly going to Leesburg. Not sure at this time as my son and daughter-in-law are racing at the PDRA race in Rockingham in April, and wifey wants me and her to go to the race. I'll let you know if we're going to Leesburg.

I put a 2 pc .100 thick aluminum spacer between the cylinder heads and the TP rocker boxes. It raises them to allow for the valve protrusion that John Sachs mentioned in his first post. This spacer moves the center line of the roller rocker tip about .060" to the outboard side of the valve stem fixing the geometry problem. I have been running them for 20,000 miles to determine if there were any other problems. The thing that I would consider would be to install lash caps on the valves to bring the push rods back to proper length. I used the existing metal gasket between the head and spacer and then used very thin smear of high temp rtv between the spacer and rocker box. Essentially I glued the spacer and rocker box together. Use the RTV sparingly. You do not want this stuff floating around in the motor. The use of the existing metal gasket allows for the expansion of the jugs. To appreciate the geometry of this hold up two fingers in the peace sign. As you move higher up the v the farther apart your fingers are.
I can't speak about any other wear problems with the TP's or about the use of lash caps if desired. I would expect that John Sachs would chime in on those issues.
Your rocker bolts will not have the same engagement. You will need some of them to be longer.

That´s way to complicated for a guy like myself..... I just got a Big Dog Tech from NY to come over to Spain and he done the conversion to full S&S in my own garage. That was cool! :old2:
But, RESPECT!.... I wish I could do all this stuff myself! :cheers:
