TP Rocker box “peeling”

Watched Marky-Marc’s video on the rocker rollers “ticking” due to the bushings and so wanted to take a peek inside. I noticed inside that there is some peeling where the rollers meet the box. I peeled off a small piece as I figured this wasn’t by design and probably not good for the bike but saw that there were a few places this was happening.

Anyone else seen this before?

I am taking the bike in to get a full once over but thought I’d ask the group.

Also thought I’d share what the “metallic paint” looks like.

The chrome job on most of TP boxes is pretty poor. If it's only peeling on the inside, consider yourself lucky. I have to get mine rechromed one of these days.

I wouldn't consider extra pieces of loose metal inside my engine lucky -- only peeling on the outside is lucky -- that's cosmetic and won't damage the engine!

IMO, before putting 5 cents into the TP boxes, I'd replace them with S&S rocker boxes that the engine should have been built with in the first place.
