For those of you that have the 05/06 TP Performance boxes I'm posting these instructions I recieved from TP.
Here is all the info you need to dis-assemble and re-assemble your rocker boxes. The rest of the information you may need will be available in the S&S SSW+ service manual.

Well my .02 was for cost savings. They were assembelling parts of the engines at Big Dog. The Camshaft was made by Comp Cams that year as well. My 05 had a .569 comp cam with S&S lifters, S&S pushrods, TP rocker boxes and I'm not sure who's springs they were but it was a double spring with a flat wound dampener that was sometimes confused for a 3 rd spring.

My understanding for it was suppression of noise.

05 brought many changes to BDM. First year to go to RSD on all models (04 Bulldog was RSD but different), first year with the Baker DSSC (primary), first year of the DD6, first year of the new EHC (dual terminal) and first year of using the new S&S SSW+ motors (Evo bottom end with a Twin cam breather system).
I hear that to meet new EPA guidelines BD had to detune the motors using the E carb instead of the G. Smaller valves and use of the TP boxes. EPA standards are not just pollution but noise levels also and supposedly the TP boxes were supposed to suppress more noise.
It was then determined that BDM didn't need to go to all these extremes to meet the EPA requirements so for 06 they went back to use of the G carbs and then later replaced the TP boxes with the originals. Of course this change I believe was due to the many issues with the valve guides and not noise suppression.

This is what I was told anyway. :D

Also heard it was a selling point. Back in 2005 they made a big deal of having TP boxes which where one of the best being sold then. Of course what we did not know it was not the full out TP Billet box that one would buy from TP at the time but a TP Built one for BDM specifically.

They were also making points about the Baker 6 Speed and RSD and I recall even listed in the flyer the part of the clutch with the 12 plates (which have been down graded to 9 if I recall for the new ones).

That said, still have my TP boxes and though the rockers and rest where changed out to S&S componets including the springs, the boxes have held up good with no pitting of chrome or leaking.

No complaints from me.
