I am interested in installing a torque arm on my bike to keep from busting my cases in the future due to high torque. Does anyone run one here?
I am going to call Carlini Design and tell them what I have and ask for there reconmendations but Harley sells some as well and wonder if any of them will cross over due to our right side drive.
Can anyone point me in the right direction..
Thanks in advance...
Neil

No luck even for us guys with the older left side drives. Carlini told me they had no interest in making one either. I will probably make my own over the winter if I don't fire bomb the boat anchor first.

I guess news like this really sucks......
If it all pans out as I see above I will try and have one made up myself. Does not Pigpen machine stuff for people here on the forum seeing how he has a BDM. I will get with someone I know locally as well to see what I can do...
Thanks for the info..

I called and talked to them today as well and they told me the same thing Al, not enough market for them. I have someone here who is going to make one for me. I am going to lay out the measurements and put it in cad and give it to him to make. Anyone else interested if he wants to do more than one? I am going to make a template of my 07 Bulldog for him to go by...
If you got any suggestions toss them out here...:2thumbs:

Sounds like a decent business venture. Is it that important with our thick frames and the S&S case? I would think the addition of a belt drive plate would really strengthen things as well.

Neil I think your design would work for anyone with your tire size, frame and right side drive, providing the trans is offset the same. Should be easy to change the offset part once you have a template made. I have several guys around me that I could have it done as well, but based on my luck with the hub I am not impressed.

I think I agree with Vegas in that I doubt we would need this or notice any difference with it but if you want one what about Fab Kevin?

These came out when guys were hopping up there evo motors and it started twisting on the mainshafts. Your correct vegas about the belt drive adding extra support but I would like one for a extra support with my left side drive that hangs out.

yea its just the primary and trans bolts that keep our rsd from twisting. thats a lot of pull on our trans plus the 4 trans mount bolts are like 20 ft/lbs of TQ. couldnt believe how loose they were last time i was there.

i looked into this a while back and would be interested in one for my 250 rsd if they could figure the offset difference from Nomads 300

When I get back from Kansas next week with the bike I am going to install a manual start on the starter housing and will pull the cover off to get a hole pattern and take the measurements. A friend of mine works in the machine shop where I work and use to build bikes and custom parts for bikes at a independent machine/fab shop. He said he would do it for me as soon as I laid it out. I have a busy September with some rallies and work but I will get something started....:2thumbs:

C3-4 Carlini Torque Arm

Per discussions with Carlini (Rex), They indicated that their C3-4 4" Bore Torque Arm is designed for both 4" Bore (107") and 4 1/8" Bore (117") S&S Engines. Both engines must share the same additional 1/4" wider (special application) crankcase on the cam cover side of the engine. There's apparently an additional 1/4" offset on the engine side of the Carlini C3-4" Torque Arm for the difference. Visually on the Carlini Web site the C3-4 Arm is different than the other styles.

Unless I missed something on the newer right side drive xmssn BD's.

Kenai
