Top motor mount?

This is prolly a dumbass question, but is it bad to ride without the top center motor mount? I have a new bolt but can't get to it w/o pulling the gas tank. Plus all my buddies r waitn on me to go.

I wouldn't. I'm not familiar with how the Mastiff's tank mounts can you undo the mounting and have someone lift it clear enough to fit the bolt without removing fuel lines and everything?

I tried with mine...drove 3-4 miles without it....got to shaking so bad, turned around...I think I'm lucky I made it back...so, I wouldn't.....

Ok so I pulled the left side tank and was going to install the new Bolts I got using an old post I found on here about size and going 1/4 in longer but the hole in the top frame is way bigger than the bolt I bought. So what is the correct size bolt that goes through the coil cover into the frame? Also what all do I need to fill the gap between the coil cover and frame?

I don't know what year or model you bike is, but the stock bolt for my 2006 Mastiff has a Allen Bolt 1/2 X 20 X 2 1/2, it came with 2 flat washers, 1 Lock washer and the nut. Use red Loctite and torque this bolt to 80 ft. lbs. I would think that the 2005 Mastiff would have the same upper mount bolt as the 2006.

Ok thanks for the info! Mine is a 05' mastiff and the top frame motor mount doesn't go all the way through.
