Top motor mount help please.

I've just noticed the allen bolt holding my top motor mount to the frame is missing. I have no idea where it has gone or how long it's been gone, but obviously i need a new one. Can anyone tell me the size and thread i need please as we are metric over here in the UK, so i can't even go and buy a few different ones and try them. 04 Ridgeback.

That's what Google may say but that's not right.

You can't swap metric with standard I know you are in UK but your gonna need standard or you are just gonna be rethreading it. They are NOT 1 for 1 ever. It's reasonably exceptable to interchange sockets between standard and metric since they are reasonably close only off by a few hundredths. but the bolt threads are a totally different ball game a few hundredths is a bigger deal

A M14-2 is closer to a 9/16-12 btw.

Your absolute closest is a like a M12 with a 1.25 pitch. Still not close a 1.25 pitch is the equivalent of 20.32 threads per inch so you are .32 threads too many.

Even though its metric it will work just wont be %100 tight on the threads but with some blue thread locker he should fine until he can order the correct one

I understand ...here's my thing an M14 is 0.55inches whereas a M12 is .47. Just simple mm conversion.

9/16 = 0.54inches

M14 is bigger than 1/2". Think you would want smaller? Yea? And a 2 pitch is closer to 28 threads per inch. 1.25 will get you 20.

I guess I don't agree the chart.

What I don't understand is why these Europeans can't buy standard fasteners. When I go to the hardware store there are both here in the states and I don't understand why it wouldn't be the same there. Seems like they discourage buying American!

Really? You know I get this vibration on my k9 in the right foot peg only. I was gonna check my motor mounts. I guess I'll check my top mount didn't think it was 80

Itll tighten down tight...i was using that in terms of threading in a couple threads and moving it for play. You can go to any ace or home depot and use there chart that allows you to thread in bolts to compare the sizes.

Check out this chart it is a little more detail than the one you provided. If you noticed your chart didn't have a 9/16 bolt just jumped from 1/2 to 5/16.

Check out this Pitch Chart too and you will see that a 2.0 Pitch is a Coarse Thread standard closer to 12. 1.25 Pitch gets you closer to the 20 threads per inch the bolt calls for.

I just clicked on the first chart, didnt think this was gonna turn into im right your wrong thread. Either way sounds like Garys best bet is to get the right one.

Gary let me know the length and ill see if I can find a nice chrome one in standard for ya and Ill send it to you.:old2:

Wasn't intended to be right or wrong thread, I apologize if it looked that way. I just wanted to put the information out there.

Its 1.5" but I think you can get away with a 2" as well if I recall some guys have done that on here to keep it from backing out.
