too shiney

Anybody ever had this problem? The chrome on my dash and top tripple clamp is blinding me. Its really bad when the sun is up high and behind me. How do you tone it down without making it look bad? I know "What a thing to bitch about" :bang:

At least it won't be shiney anymore!

I guess I have never had to deal with trying to make something, "Unshiney"!!

Some of my rat rods I just spray some flat black paint on them and they don't shine anymore!

Well I do have the same thing occur with the sun hitting the headlight bucket and triple t reflecting back the rays. It can be a pain in the butt, but wouldn't change a thing. Just divert my eye, or move the helmet slightly to not have it blind me. That and wearing some type of sun glasses or tinted lens doesn't hurt either.

I guess if I was taking a long trip where I had to run directly into the sun for awhile, maybe stick some masking tape such as the blue stuff that comes off clean and easy over it. When I have those situation in the past though, I usually had a bar bag on the front which did block the rays also.

:hi: make sure your sunglasses have polarized lenses. won't get rid of all the glare but it helps. other than that, maybe ride at night?????:2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Lol, I just noticed this the other day (after hours of polish work). Not sure how to "unshine" it all, but it did get annoying...

Ride for two hours in the rain then never wash you bike. It will gain a nice patina!!

I have had the exact same problem and I agree with fibersnake totally! I did tie a rebel flag scarf on it one time, but took it off at the next stop. Rather put up with the glare!

My bike has chrome trippletrees etc. and I don't have the problem often but when it does reflect just right, It's blinding. I just deal with it for that short stretch of road.

If you want a solution that will both dull the reflection and still make the chrome look reasonable, try some semi-clear kitchen cling plastic wrap. It should stay in place and provide enough light difussion without being permanent.

Cheap and easy to try!
