I'm replacing the rubber on the K9, and trying to decide what I want. Not alot of choices for a 300 tire! Any thoughts??

Shinko is what I run on every bike I own, good tires at a great price :chopper: Ive got about 3k on my last 300 and it still looks good.

I like Avon's. Never tried Metzler. But Avon's are going up to $500 for the rear tire for the K9. So I might check out the Metzler's next time I need a rear tire to see how much they cost.

Best price I've found for an Avon was $259, Metzeler is $100 more! I've never tried Shinko!

Wasn't overly impressed with the Metzler 250 on the back of my 02 pit. It had a strange wear pattern to it. swapped it out with a Shinko and it seams to be handling better and wearing more evenly (just my opinion).

My last Avon cost $260, but only lasted 4K miles. Replaced it with a Shinko that looks nearly the same. It was only $200, but I don't have that many miles yet.

I have heard lots of people badmouth Shinkos though. A metric shop mounted my last set of tires and said they wouldn't mount Shinkos........on my second visit after they had mounted it last time. A riding buddy also said he had one blow out on the road once, so he won't run them any more.

I'll wait to see how the Shinko wears, but AmericanMotoTire.com still has Avons for $259, so I'll likely try Avon again if the Shinko lasts less than 8K.

I've run Avons. Metzlers and Shinkos

Metzlers ran the best but not enough better to justify the extra $$
Avons and Shinko's about equal, although new cobra chromes from Avon seem squirrellier in the curves to me.
I've got another Avon in stock for the next change because I got a great price but after that I'm likely to go back to Shinko's

I've hade every brand of tire develop a weird wear pattern -- at this point it is what it is and I've stopped worrying about it -- seem enough others that had that weird pattern that I know it's not me!
