i almost bought one .... Had been running Metzler. Now Avon. with all the Avon problems ive read about on here.... i might consider it again.

Ok, mounted the Dunlop almost two weeks ago finely got to ride it about 40 miles today, seems to not corner as well as the Avon. My two cents in case anyone's interested.

Better late then never on my response, when hammering into a turn sometimes I drag my pipe on the right and peg on the left. It seemed to take more effort to get the bike into a hard high speed turn. Been a couple of months now, tire seems to be holding up pretty well. If I get some decent mileage out of it I'll get another.
How is the tire looking Nine?
Thinking of ordering one of these but I think its going to be a tight fit not much room with the belt now on my rigid. Price is right but not sure I want to shim the pulley's to make it fit.
According to Dennis Kirk the Dunlop 250 is 0.102" wider than the Cobra 250.

0.102 inches wider should not be a problem. only half of that is sticking out per side so it should be less than a sixteenth (1/16th) closer to your belt. low air pressure would make the Cobra hit if it's that close. that being said, the rim width is not given for the Cobra, so the difference might be much more if the rim width is smaller than the one the Dunlop was measured on.

Tire is looking good with no clearance problems. Have the bike with me now at work, otherwise I would check the mileage when mounted and give an estimate on how many miles I have left. If I remember I"ll post tonight or tomorrow. I'll get another, no side wall splits or anything like the Avon and the price is right.:2thumbs:
I think a ballpark would be sufficient. I am hoping your thinking she's going to last for 8-10k.
Seems most are getting 3-5k out of the new Avons which could amount to me putting on two tires a season which is bullshit.

Thats mostly with the 300 crowd Eric. I got 18,000 out of my last cobra and ran it down to the cords though

Have about 5000 miles on the rear tire now, looks like it's about half down so 8-10k would be safe to say. Don't know how anyone gets 18k on a rear tire. I have 11k on my front and I'll be changing it in about a month.
Don't know what happened to Avon, I've used them since the early 90's with no problems. The last rear Cobra had these lateral splits and the front has splits on the sidewall. Shitty rubber I guess.

I put the Dunlop 240/40 on my 2010 bagger just to be safe (stock is 250/40) and while I like the tire, it does not fit the rim correctly. Has about an 1/8 in gap at the rim where it meets the tire. Its just a Dunlop thing, my mechanic told me they are made to fit a Harley type wheel? Doesn't make sense why it doesn't fit right, but it doesn't fit right..... Its beaded up correctly but it looks like shit. I will try a Metzeler next. Its too bad, cause I like the tread pattern. Looks isnt a big deal on my bike, cause you cant see the tire much because of the bags, but for you Ridgback or K-9 guys...you will hate it.
