TIRE WEAR QUESTION

Hey Ya'll notice last nigh that the left side of my tire is wearing more than the right. 6,000 miles and I often have low pressure due to a slow leak. I intend on replacing soon, just curious of what might cause the uneven wear.
ANY IDEAS??? Oh and NO I dont ride on NASCAR tracks. Just normal hot rodding.

I read once that the left side wear is because left hand turns are longer (ie longer time with the tire canted to that side) than right hand turns, which are generally a sharp 90 degree turn. If you are driving straight, then the tire is straight up & down, then that is where the tire wear would be. It's the turns.

Hm. Interesting. Been thru 5 rear tires and never had that happen. But I'm rightside drive. Hit the twistees constantly, too. Rear always winds up with flat spot right down the middle prior to change. My guess is: maybe alignment. Low pressure possibly too. (Two things always do prior to headin out...check oil and tire pressure.)

Yeah Ray and Floyd, I was just on the phone with a local shop and he said the same thing. I'm ready to replace it just to get the slow leak fixed. Preciate the input from everybody.

I have had the same problem. I personally don't believe its a alignment problem. The factory installed tire wore exactly the same as the 3 I have installed. My dealer seems to believe its the cup in the road. I normally ride just right of the center of the lane. I'm not so sure I'm convinced that's the case. So I'm all ears if someone has an answer.

Sorry yall never did a follow up on this thread. Service shop said my wheel was in fact not in proper alignment. I have noticed that there is a measurable change in the space I have between tire edge and drive belt since the new tire and alignment. The gap was very small before, almost touching, now got about 3/16". Bike seems to track straighter with no hands on the bars. Oh and the slow leak........three fucking finishing nails will do it every time. Guess they were in there when I bought it because I have had to check and add air since day one. THE NEW RUBBER FEELS GOOD SPINNING!!! :whoop:
