Wanted to ask other Ridgeback riders what kind of air pressure you are running for the most comfort, yet not wearing out the tires. Trying to get as much "cushion" out of that 300 rear tire as possible but don't want to prematurely wear it out.

well, my 2004 with the 250 tire I ran 26-28 lbs. when I didn't have a passenger. I put 6000 miles on that tire and it still had 1/2 tread left.

My 2005 Ridge I run about 30 lbs. in it. I have run less and more and 30 is a happy medium. I have about 5000 miles on this tire and I am getting close to the wear bars. But...... I have a tendancy to rotate the tire from time to time.

Cool, thanks. I am running 30 now as weel. After putting the dyna beads in I was running 40 but it was way to rough. 30 should be better. I tend to "rotate" my back tire as well but need to not do that. They are too expensive to replace that often.

I have an '05 ridgeback. I'm running mine at 42 rear and 40 front. The previous owner was running the rear at 25(ish). With it that low the tire hasn't worn evenly at all. I'll have to get it replaced this spring--it lasted 5000 miles. There is noticibly less traction in some places--particularly anywhere just left of the tire center.

I've gotten used to it @ 42psi, the stiffer ride doesn't bother me anymore. Hitting bumps that pop me out of my seat no longer scare the shit out of me either (any ridgeback owner knows what I'm talking about :lol: )

I run 2lbs under max on my K9 and havent noticed anything except it handles a lot better for me especially in the front. But I also weigh 240 lbs at 6'4" so I dont notice any hashness to the ride with the higher pressure smaller guys might get their kidneys roughed up though. :D

Show good lookin bike.Now on your tire pressure!First off i know you are wanting to have a softer ride and i think lowering the pressure is the wrong way to go 2-5psi ok.30psi at 70mph dont you think you will build up alot of heat inside the tire?10PSI is a big jump. 05chop:eek:

Yeah that's why I said 2#.

On the track, on the rocket, I would run 6# under... but you were heat cycling the tires so much that it didn't matter, it was abnormal conditions.

I called Avon (not the perfume company:roll: ) when I bought my bike and they told me that at 175 lbs, and without a passenger, I could run as low as 26 psi. without damage to the tire. I run about 30-32 in it and all is good, even at 100 mph.

I had mine at 20 for a short test run wish I would have had a pump with! Now I run 27 with a little shake at 120mph but that dosnt happen often

Rumor has it... Jake's dyna beads will get rid of that shake.

I had the same thing at 120 before the beads - just about got it to 120 last saturday with the beads with no shake - not sure if I was going as fast as I did before but couldn't have been far away

Instead of filling your tires with air you can fill them with Nitrogen. Less PSI changes due to heat and humidity, less air loss. All of my vehicles have Nitrogen in them. A lot of the tire dealers have started carring Nitrogen air fills.
