Tire Pressure

After reading a post on here that someone found their tire pressure low, I decided to give mine a check before heading out for a quick ride over the weekend. I looked at the recommended pressure in the BDM manual and it calls for 40 psi front and 42 psi rear. If I would put that much air in it would be like riding a brick down the road. I am currently riding with 26 and 28 respectively. I cannot imagine where they get those numbers from.
Any thoughts on this? :loony:

I run 40-40. I think that low your going the wear the tires uneven.Low tire pressure can damage the handling.

40-40 here too. You need to put some air in your tyres - you have suspension.

Lower pressure will provide a softer ride but will also cause the tires to wear prematurely expecially the rear. I run 35 and 35

Thanks for all your input. I will increase to 38 - 35 for now and test it out.
I appreciate it.

05 chopper and I run 40 front and 30 rear. Any more in the rear makes it wear in the middle about 4 in. thats not enough tire on the ground for me.

ive got to watch the thin front tires on these bikes, it only takes a little air loss to have the front end go sloppy on you [i know]
fronts at 40 psi and 35 in the rear, [i don,t ride two up!]

I run 40 and 42 and get good mileage out of my tires, and ride is pretty good, just some new added info, my front tire has been loosing air this winter just sitting, it took me awhile but the leak ended up being corrosion on the rim, I had to dismount and clean off (used steel brush and then steel wool to get nice finish). this did fix
