Thunderheart ign on a mostly stock bike

I was getting some minor warranty work done at my dealer, and the mechanic there mentioned the TH ignition. He said it was a great upgrade even on a Dog with just intake and exhaust done. I've read a lot about it here, but it's been PPL with cams, shaved jugs, and such. Has anyone done the TH ignition upgrade on a mostly stock bike?

I doubt you would notice much difference just with an ignition upgrade without other mods. I suspect others will have a different view though.

Had a steeler tell me the same thing last year !! I like to know myself , He claimed that the stock ignition had a mild curve and that good "big" improvements could be had with a healthy dose of advance . It made some sense but my stock bike runs so strong that I'm "Scared" dam the bike runs over 140mph ...and flat out out embarrasses "most " Hds even the SE's with ease .... Lets hear the Experts weigh in on this ?????? I have less thaen a year on the warranty .

From my understanding(from reading Jakes write up) It should make a considerable diffrence due to better timing curves!

This is the same unit BDM puts in the bike, only that the factory one has a preset curve that is really conservative to meet DOT requirements. When upgrades like cam, carb, intake and exhaust is done, the stock ignition can't "release" that new found power and a matching ignition needs installed as well.
Of course would make a bigger dif in a motor that has been upgraded but anytime you are restricting the timing(even on a stock motor) you are hurting the performance!!!!:2thumbs:
