Throttle sticking

Whats up everyone, new to the site and happy to be here. I'm hoping dome one can help me with a problem I'm having with my throttle. The throttle is rubbing on the switch housing at full open, also as i twist the throttle i see it worm gear it's self towards the switch housing? It's the stock gear on a k9, is it possible that the throttle is broken, i did have the bike fall and hit the end of the throttle once last year but never had a problem after that ow it's starting to act up. All the cables are fine, it's just housing that is rubbing the throttle. Any help would be great, thanks un advance.

No, the throttle /grip Is rubbing /binding on the switch housing, iit's like the switch housing is to small to fit around the throttle, only at full throttle. When i loosen the housing it's fine. I do have a lot in and out play on the throttle/grip probably about an 1/8inch. I'm thinking the throttle end cap is broken internally but I'm not sure how it's made, is it plastic, could it have broke? And why is it worming in towards the housing as i twist it past half way?

Loosen up the bolts and pull the whole unit a couple millimeters... when you laid it down it was pushed in. Not a biggie.



Further on, since your there... open it up, clean it, grease it, lube the cables and re-assemble it. Click on the link at the bottom of my Signature Block.. some good info there about maintenance too :2thumbs:

Thanks for the info. I've already lubed and cleaned it out. I will try pulling it out abit and see what happens. Is it normal for it to worm it' self in as i twist the throttle?

I would say NO, it should not worn out just because of normal usage... but, if under pressure it might rub and not work freely.

I just tryed what you said and it worked great. I can't thank you enough. I definitely owe you a few drinks, thanks again. I've been trying to figure this out for the last 2 weeks. Thanks again.. :2thumbs:

Yeah That’s why I was asking I over tightened mine once and I was ticked why my throttle was sticking so I retraced my steps and it doesn’t seam right to leave it a little loose but it works.
