Throttle & Idle Cables and Bad Motor Idle

Hello my fellow Bid Dogs,

I've gotten so much help from this site I thought I'd try and share as well.

My problem started after I installed some new throttle & idle cables on my 05 Ridgeback. After installation, I took the scoot out for a ride and found they were too loose. This was my first time installing cables, so I did some searching and found this video:

After getting the cables installed correctly, I started up my bike and found it wasn't idling right. I thought it was something to do with the cables but after checking them over, the bike still idled rough, back firing and missing at idle speed. I took a ride and my dog still had power at high rpms so it wasn't an exhaust leak. Took the main jet out, that wasn't the problem. Put in some new plugs, not that either. I then did some searching on this site and saw that one of the other members had the same problem and fixed it by cleaning his mixture screw. So, I went out to the garage, pulled the screw out and found a bunch of black soot on it. Cleaned it up with starter fluid and put it back in. Started the bike back up and what do you know, that was my problem.....All I can say is, thank God for this site; it's has saved me time over again! Thank you for all your help and please keep posting your problems and solutions!!!
