Well I visited the local bike shop looking for some solutions and I was surprised when the mechanic knew exactly what I was talking about. Come to find out there had been at least two other Big Dogs with the same problem!!!(one was still there). Amazing how the aluminum wore out after only 8000 miles.

So how did the mechanic fix your problem?

I think I get the setup. Remove C-clips, cable outer slides into housing, so when you split the housing, you can loop the cable barrels off the throttle handle holes. How close am I?
Say you can't find those clips. Meguyveers over to a spool of aircraft safety wire, and with tool needed or twisted by hand, you can get away with the wire in the groove, then twist enough wire so it stops at the housing without moving in the housing. No spool wire? Meguyveer picks up a steel brush and snips off a long strand and doubles up as in piggyback the stands in the groove so the cable does not walk into the housing.

I believe some of the extra slack in the cables come from twisting the throttle a little more after the carb is wide open. This bends the cable bracket at the carb. We all do it sometimes. Remove cables and adjust the lower cable suport back up away from the carb. Then re attach cables.
