Hi i have just fitted new cables for the throttle, i have had to mod the go cable but the idle cable is far too long ?? do you really need the idle cable as it does appear to do anything as the carb has a very strong return spring to pull the throttle off has anyone had any probs with no idle cable any info help would be appreciated.

thanks and regards to all

You don't need it but its a safety cable. Both should be 50" long if you have the chopper models

thanks for the input i have the mastiff 05 and i got the cables from the local harley shop there both 40" the manual states 33" but i could not get any a different length, its not so bad if the inner is too short you can strip off some of the outer to make it work but the other way round its a no go, i could put in a spacer before the carb but at the end of the day if its not doing anything whats the point of it i dont figger it ???

thanks and regards

Hi and thanks for the offer Raywood but the time difference here in New Zealand might mean an early morning call lol you can email me on datmouse@xtra.co.nz the bike is running great on one cable though it just dosn't make much sense to me to have two cables when one will do the same job !!!

thanks and regards

The IdleR Cable Is More A Safety Measure Than Anything Else. Without It If You Break A Spring On The Carb You Will Have No Way To Close The Throttle. You Can Guess Where This Is Going. I Highly Recommend You Put The Idler Cable Back On
They Can Get Away With ONe Cable On Guillotine Style Carbs Because Of The Cable Breaks it Will Just Slam Shut
