Thoughts on Dyno Run

I just had my 2006 Mastiff (117 S&S) Dyno and it came in at 103.3 HP and 125.6 ft-lbs of Torque. The bike has 2828 miles and is new to me. It appears the only upgrade on the bike is Vance and Hines pipes. So I would like to get some thoughts on these numbers are they good or bad for this bike and what else could I do to improve the performance?

Looks like you have a strong motor there. The torque may be a tad high! But, so what. It just confirms all is good.

Reasonable but good numbers. Next steps for increasing HP would likely be a higher flow filter and then cam. I am throwing in an EFM autoclutch today. That should help performance without altering power. That's where my upgrades will end. (Not sure how many times I have said that. lol)

I have heard a good Cam to go with is either a S&S or a Andrews. I was also told I should run about a 600 Cam any thoughts on this?

I am going with an S&S 585 because I don't want to change springs and bump compression which most of the experts recommend with a 600 or bigger. Should still be plenty. I want power, but not looking to race the sport bikes either.

Thats plenty of power to get you in Trouble:2thumbs: More power more problems is a good saying to remember.

My suggestion would be XXX carb, Thunder Heart ignition and 585 or 600 cam depending on which springs are in your motor

Those are great numbers compared to my stock 117. You put down 10 more horse and 20 more ft-lbs than me. Are the 2006's limited by EPA standards like my 05? Now you have a good starting point to go from.

I can't believe you guys have gotten me seriously thinking about power upgrades, but you have! So... What would this pack of mods, say with the 585, do to fuel mileage?

I wouldn't want to further reduce range on a tank of fuel. 120-130mi is short enough. (though I did get to see Ray's bitchin tank mod this week)

The cam would cause it to drink more. But would the carb and ignition balance that through efficiency? Who's got history with such a package of mods?

FYI, I've got an 07 Chopper

Abaco, believe it or not you get better gas mileage with the XXX. I was getting around mid to high twenties per gallon when when I went with the XXX i got anywhere fron high thirties to almost fifty per gallon. It all depends how much you twist your wrist.

The 05 models had restriction plates in the Intake and an E carb while the 06 no plates and a G Carb. Someone correct me if I am wrong?

I have an 05 Chopper with no restrictor plates, and it has a G carb. I was told by Speeds Performance Plus in texas that 05's can come either way. Maybe depending on where they were sold.

After the 05s were introduced they came out with the option of installing the larger Carb
