Thinking of repainting my HD Ultra.

Well, some of ya'll might remember. Three yrs ago I purchased a 1996 HD Ultra Classic with a blown engine for $3500.00. When I got it back to Shreveport I pulled the engine and found out the Cam bearing let go and caused the cam to drop and then the push rods fell. I decided to do a complete engine tear down on the Evo motor. Went back with ajustable push rods, Andrews 27 cam, arlen Ness power II and a 2 into 1 Thunder Header. Since the Thunder header was given to me, I now had $4200.00 in the bike. This last September after coming back from Sturgis I did a Stage 3 on the motor. The heads were Decked .10 bringing the compression to 10-1, and doing a polishing job cleaning up the intake and exhaust. Since we were looking to increase the torque we left the smaller valves in the heads. yanked the P.O.S. Arlen Ness Power II and replaced it with a Power Commander on it. Also recovered both seats and gel packed them. Now I have 78HP and $5600.00 invested in the bike. Now looking at the paint is 16 years old and looking at repainting the bike. I know a custom bike & car painter who will paint the front fairing, fuel tank, both fenders, tour pack, both EHC covers, both saddle bads and both front leggings on the crash bar for a great deal, if I remove it all and bring it to him. Painters step-son is one of my foremen and owes me a favor. here is what I have and what I am thinking of doing. What are ya'lls thoughts? So when I'm done I will have roughly $7600.00 total in the bike.

That's a lot of paint for two grand, especially if you are getting any art or graphics. If you are thinking about it, you are on the way to doing it. Let us see some pictures:2thumbs:

Painter is doing it on his down time. Told me to drop it off Jan 2nd and I could expect it back towards the end of Febuary. If I needed it sooner it would cost substantually more! Doing the flames on the front fairing, fuel tank, & front fender, slight flames on the saddle bags and tour pack.

I like the direction you're going with the paint. Simplicity is best on those bikes, imo. That will great on the bike! It will be one hell of a bike for what you have into it for sure.
