The ten thousand dollar mistake

I read on the forum that S&S makes a trans. Don't know anything about it, but anything may be better than the baker sh*t speed!

Baker wants to lay the blame on Big Dog and that's not surprising. I'm sure big dog didn't ask for a tranny that was marginal. It's to complicated to lay the blame soley on either party. I have to lean towards baker since they clearly designed a tranny for big dog. That being said, I never had a problem with any of the bakers I had.

Hey Toadstool
I'm in the process of installing nitrous. Did you ever spray the 30hp jet? I'm shooting mostly for show but, I do want so go. Thanks Carpetman

Glad you are back up are running again too, we all make bone head mistakes, the important thing is to learn from them.I have made my share too, trust me! My wife, who drives her pick up truck like she is trying out for Nascar everyday, wanted me to set her truck up with Nitrous, really she did.I told her she was "Nuts" if she thought I would do it. After days of whining about it, I finally gave in and went to Tenn Speed Sport and got it for Her and put it on too. Oh no, not the complete nitrous oxide system on a F150 pick up with a 4.6 , no way!!! I got her a NOS sticker on put it on the back glass and just spent a $1. :D:

That works out to be about $85 per horsepower unit. Whew, glad you can afford it, I sure couldn't. It's good you got your dawg up and running again though.

Right after the build I had two different seals go bad. They both blew when I had it at the track running the shit out of it. (Front tappet block and pushrod o ring) I am hesitant to add the NOS in fear of messing something else up. Maybe it was coincidence and it could handle the NOS fine. Maybe I have reached the bikes limits and the NOS would destroy it. I just got accepted into anesthesia school and will be living off loans for 3 years and cannot afford to find out right now. Prior to the build I used the juice about a dozen times and it was addicting, amazing difference. My face split in to two I was smiling so much.

I finally had enough and found someone who could actually help with all the problems
Who was the Tech who finally made it all good, and where is his shop?

I also like the fact you are trying to make your chop run hard down the track. Hell, anyone can go pick up a CBR1100RR or a Busa, anyone. But it still would not be a long cruiser bike. Good Job!!

The tech's name is Terry Reed. He owns Reeds Racing in the small town of Crestline, Ohio. This guy is good to deal with. He works out of a small shop in his back yard but has been doing this his entire life. He is honest, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He had all the professional equipment a big city shop does including a dyno that fits our big bikes. His labor price is fair too. Now, I had a lot of labor so there was some sticker shock, but it runs like it is supposed to.

I may need more crankcase ventilation for the nitrous. Not sure how or if you can achieve it.

Nitrous is known for increasing crank case pressure. If you keep blowing seals, that's the first place I'd look.

Dude enjoy what you have.....
Buy a ZX14 for a second bike.... I would like to have one too.....:D

If you want speed and HP by a rice burner. like many have posted on here just to keep the bike running is a nightmare. I would love to upgrade to an open primary but the last 1600.00 was for a starter and rotors/brakes??? just to keep it on the road. love the bike hate the reliability factor. and that is just normal repair forget about the WP installed/cam sensor replace/ ETC.. ETC.. ,

i have an 03 dog chopper with a magna charger on it with all the up grades that magna charger told me to use have rode it for tow yrs back and forth to work as much as possible the weather would let me with no problems
