Gas, I would conformal coat those handcontrol boards if I were you. The back side of the board only needs done because the controls are not sealed and water can get it very easy on those. I did mine and they worked out great. I even put the boards back in the rubber pads and installed and gave them one last light spray of coating to keep water out of in between the pads and the boards.

Better safe than sorry while you have it apart. Why leave those undone when everything else is done?

tell me to shut up if this is a particularly stupid question / suggestion, but have you considered rubber mounting the motor when you put it back together if thats possible to do with these bikes? presumably would take care of a lot of the vibrations
You can't rubber mount our frames. It takes a special type of frame for rubber mounting.

if you look at the back, there are no soldiered connections to "seal"

I don't know... maybe I will later... I have some time before I need to bolt it back on.

Been working on a few other things including but not limited to polishing the wheels. The first step to the Zoop sealant job...

First had to remove the sticky wheel weights cause I'll be going with Dyna Beeds for balancing... Big props to Low Down Chop Shop for that.

Pop off the weights then some Goo Gone to get off the sticky

Then I had picked up some Flitz polish to do the wheels. This is suppose to be some mack daddy stuff and gave it a try. And the hype... well its true.

I got the Flitz and a polishing ball (that I never used).

They tell you to apply and rub in till clean with paper towel. That being because the paper towel is more abrasive than a polishing rag/towel. Follow up with a polishing towel.

Well, as many of you know, my wife is the best. I hate polishing and anybody willing to help me polish my stuff knowing I don't have to return the favor (her wheels are all mag)... well that person is damn near a saint!

So here's the work in progress

Start out with these dull wheels

And then we get dirty

GD I love this girl... too bad her sister is married and prego or I figure I could auction her off!

Just look at the carnage

The results

I'll go over them once more and then proceed to using the Zoop Sealant on them, so hopefully I don't have to do this for a few years.

 She did the front wheel and I did the rear. She's never really went at polishing before and let me tell you... she's good!

thats funny because guess where my wheels are right now and guess who's polishing them tomorrow? I decided to hold fire on the powder coating (just got March issue of American Iron and the front cover has put me off for now) - I don't have any flitz though unfortunately but do have some Mothers Billet so we'll (sorry, she'll) have a go with that - quick question and apologies for a mini hijack but my wheels do not have any weights on them - could there be any on the rim inside the tyre? I do have the beads from Jake

Chris - I think Uma and Lisa would get on extremely well with each other - both Sporty riders as well

Gas love the forward controls they look great. I have been getting my wife and showing her this thread and telling her how Mrs Gas is helping and loves to help. This morning I woke up and my clothes were packed in walmart sacks and I had a one way bus ticket to Michigan. I mentioned to my wife that I really don't like riding the bus, she told me she would help duct tape the walmart sacks to my Big Dog. She also said Uma probably has wood floors.

That would be cool Lee... too bad there is this small body of water seperating us!!

I can believe there are no weights. But if you're running jake's beeds it don't matter either way.
