ok, either way works, i was about a half mile from al's last night. my uncles datin a chick that lives right down the road from him. anyways lets me know what you come up with. or if worse come to worse i could always come by and get um, bring my oldman over to see all your shit.

So yesterday I got to work... swapped out the cam covers...
The old:
Remove the "points cover" to get at the removal bolt hole to pull the cam cover
It took some pullin to get it off but it eventually came
After some measurements to ensure it would be a proper fit... (Thanks Al)
Install the inner plate of the cam cover and torque to specs
Add some o-rings and grease to hold them
Add the outer cover
And of coarse torque to specs
Did you know there is only about 10 ft/lbs holding that damn thing on... wow.
Forgot to get a pic of everything without tape but didn't want to scratch anything... you get the idea... just checking everything before tear down.

First assemble the most important of things during this tear down. Simple yet VERY effective. cheap ziplock bags for bolts and parts, masking tape for labeling wires, and a marker to do the writing.

mock up new motor mount, and coil setup
pull speedo

Well the fender looked like it didn't need to be there anymore...

Track the wire thru the swingarm channel where it comes out under the seat
Then continue

Then due to pulling the plate wiring... and thinking the battery really should go.... we just went crazy on the wiring... Pull the battery, then the alarm, pull the thunderheart ignition (going bye bye anyway), disconnect the speedo pickup, the starter, the ehc.... hell pull the whole damn battery tray... don't need that anyway now...
The circuit breaker... get rid of the damn wires

Thanks Dave... its about the largest undertaking I have done on a bike... its going to be a huge learning process. Got more to post though
So I pulled the carb
Time to pull the stock coil cover
Now pull the stock motor mount. I've always hated how you had to use a punch to tighten or loosen it... DUMB
All gone...
Mount up the one piece to the yankee motor mount and new motor mount bolt
Then slide the coil mount on...
Look perfect... um.. no. Another thing to add to the milling list. Need a block out plate or spacer... probably due to the BDM frame or somin... but there is a bit over a half inch of gap to make up between the frame and the motor mount... I figure best place to adjust is in this gap instead of behind the vertical piece... plus if I go the other way it cancels out the use of my sweet motor mount bolt.
one small alum spacer cut to size with 2 holes thru it for bolts should do the trick.
Guess the plug wires will run like this and it gives you the idea of how much nicer it is over the stock setup!

At the end of the night I also got the speedo and headlight off. Goals accomplished which leaves us with a skimppy clothed chop and some fast filling tables
Now Sunday will be to swap out the levers and see what else I can get into. Then the bike needs to make one more trip before the final tear down.

Yeah its no problem.. the pics are a double good. They not only provide great pics for forum use but also help me out if I need to know how something went back together for when I have to put it back together.
Nah, I still need to roll the bike out for one more piece to the project... but I can't transport it yet due to working so I figure I might as well get some stuff done.
Hopefully today will be front turn signals. Change out the levers (one got scratched but I got 2 new ones). And I think I'm going to pull the rear fender and all its pieces.

Gas when you removed the plate holder and mount did you clip the wire to the led light board, or did you pull the wire through the frame from the connector back? I just removed mine and since the wires were soldered to the light board I have not decided if I will clip then resolder later or pull the whole harness through.
