Gas tell us newer guys what the name Phoenix means ? The bike project looks like a labor of love and I wish I were helping or better yet doing my own ...but to be honest I just wish it was WARM ENOUGH TO RIDE MY SCOOT!!! SHIT IT's _uckin cold out!
Well I just poped in for a min... had to get online for some info and pay for some more parts... DUH!!!

It is a labor of love. I love doing the time.

Phoenix being a bird from mythology. Phoenix (mythology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Cliff notes is that I laid the bike down in the fall and from that the bike has burned down and is being reborn. Being reborn is putting it lightly I hope, bieng that it is coming back badder than ever.

Understand?

Its also been a tat I have been wanting to get for a while. Across my sholder blades with its wings spread. I guess the bike is getting it before I am.

I'm going back to the garage... getting a bunch of small stuff done...

Thanks Scuba... the tins won't be any different than before.

Thanks Lee and Lambo

Relaoderbmg... come on up on ground hog day (Feb 2nd). That's when I plan on bolting up the primary and whatever else we can get into. I might get the motor and tranny in before that.

Anyway, on todays list...I got a resonable amount done before I had to go to work.

Got the laptop out for "help pics"

Chased all the tapped holes on the frame & swingarm to ensure clear bolting when its needed. Here's a few shots...

I taped the hell out of the frame & swingarm after that. Don't want to F'up the new powder

Cleaned up the steering neck races. They had some residual from the acid dip and whatever.

Worked on the tripples.
Mount the fork stop to the lower tree

Spin in the neck shaft to the upper tree

Lube the neck bearings with Mobil 1 synth grease

Bolt up the tripples to the neck. All ready for fork legs

Get the swingarm and work on getting the pivit bolt bushings installed

Pound half way these in with a large socket

Then install the "Jesus Christ clips" and pound in the remaining amount

both sides

Bolt up the swingarm to the frame with the pivit bolt

Slid the backbone wiring back thru so its ready to have its harness clips replaced

I did start working on the forks, draining the fluid and then started into the stupid task of replacing the fork seals. Will post more on that later once they're done. But here's what we are looking at by the end of today.

Hopefully Sat, I will pick up my gas tank from the dealership, then finish the forks, bolt up the rear shocks and oil bag. Also, Zoop the wheels, then assemble the rotors and pulleys to those wheels. Maybe even mount up the front wheel. Won't be able to do mount the rear wheel till my chrome gets here monday.

I second that - do they look as good in real life? better I should imagine - I guarantee you I would have forgot to put the belt in when bolting up the swingarm!
Shit I did forget the belt as you can see in the first pic on mounting the swingarm. No sooner did I spin the right side in and go... "You dumb fucker!" No biggie... an extra 2mins to the project don't hurt nobody.

And thanks TX... I sure hope it ends up as sweet as I have been trying

Good catch on the belt... you would have been real pissed if you caught that latter... You're making some kick ass progress - seems it's going together faster than it went apart. Echo Dave's comment - those trees are sick.. Bet more people will comment on your tree's than anything else.. :)

scuba... I haven't planned on doing any events... really I never plan on anything like that... if I'm off and somebody wants to go... then I'll go... I'm all about cheap vacays. As far as the rebiuld... well, its been a hell of a adventure. Thanks for the vote of cofidence!

Thanks boys on the trees. Those are Accutronix Tribal Trees. They are the fix to what I believe is the largest problem with the bdm front end as far as looks. Well, those plus a few other things I still have to roll out. But you'll have to wait till I get the forks on.

And thanks again TX...

I picked up the pipes today after the ceramic was put on. Still need to polish the tips a bit, they got a little discolored from the ceramic bake but you get the idea.

The chrome shipment will be in Monday and therefor so will the heat shields...
