BDM did not let you down, Baker did. Though the tranny is 6 years old, fix it and ride. Good luck.

Baker should be at least be sending out replacement mainshafts for $0 You fix or pay for labor. Doesn't matter that the tranny is 6 years old, if bike is stock and not being raced, these shafts should not be breaking.

Nothing lasts forever. Call Baker, kill them with kindness and see what happens. No car manufacturer would ever give you free car parts 6 years after you bought the car. Just say'in. Sometimes we expect to much.

Cycles typically don't see the kind of mileage that cars do, I can almost bet that bike doesn't have anywere near 80 or 100,000 miles on it. I had a Harley with a bad cam, think it was a 92, removed the cam and brought it to a dealer, they said that some cams on that year were "soft" Was able to get a new cam for half the price with my labor of course. Like Barhopper said, give them a call, might at least get a discount.

Yep same old 2005 mainshaft i just had to do mine, and the year before bebuilt because i seen the bearings going.

Call Scott at Baker but it aint cheap for parts and rebuild, i just spent last 2 days riding so far so good and i updated to Bandit clutch and carrier.

Make sure you have an Upgraded carrier in that 05 as well

I just replaced the main shaft bearing on my 05 Ridgeback with 30,000 miles. I had been feeling a not normal vibration in the feet pegs and couldnt track where it was coming from. Then when I pulled into work it was dumping tran oil on the ground. I got a new bearing for $45.00 from local parts store and slapped it in.

You also better check the bearing on the other side, if you have not.

I hear a lot about the baker six speed and how great it can be. On here there seems to be issues with them. Has baker built the new main shaft into their latest products? If so, what year did they start putting in the new hardened main shafts? Do we have any options other than baker for transmissions for our dogs. Just curious if anyone knows.
