The bike finally runs.

Well after 6 grand by my bro and 1 grand by me the $3000 Mastiff finally runs again! But I guess as with all bikes the work is never done. It goes but stopping is another story. Front brakes work fine but nothing in the rear. Checked the fluid and it's good. Tried bleeding the caliper but can not build up any pressure. Pedal bottoms out. Guessing the master cylinder is gone. Looked on e-bay but could only find rebuild kits for 2005 and up. Mine is a 2000. And NONE that I could swap outright. Any thoughts BDM owners?

take it apart , don't guess.
then if the rubber parts are worn out /gone take them to a napa dealer , and match them up.
also take the caliper apart , and check it out .

Nah. Not my real brother. Just my brother from another mother.He died a few months back and his mom gifted the bike to me.

To find out, my hand is on the pedal, a box end wrench around the banjo bolt, I crack the bolt at the master, push the pedal down and watch the air spurt out at the washers, bolt, etc., then close before I bottom the pedal or time in to close on the one full stroke. Then pump it up. No pedal or came back? Repeat one more time.

I'd now remove the banjo off the master, hold my thumb over the hole and pump shit out of it. No pedal? No leak at the push bar side? Say I sneak some vinegar in the mix and make the rubber swell out. I could dip half in a beer bottle cap is the bigger cone side so the clip end is still tight around the plunger cutout.

Yeah the stator was gone when he bought it. Kept leaving him stranded and me coming to get him. After new pistons , rings, gaskets, and the whole 9 yards it left him stranded again so he parked it. Sat for just under a year. So I took it in for a starter replacement which turned into a stator replacement which turned into a blown head gasket. Really? These guys did all this engine work and after TWO rides he parks it but the head gasket blows? $3700 later and the bike still don't run? I guess. But yeah it was stored for 9 months.

I took it out today for a real road test. Put 100+ miles on it. Ran like a champ but for the rear brakes. Gotta say that this is definitely a young mans bike. 110 cubic inches and the bitch jumps even in 5th gear. But at my age I'm looking for comfort not speed. So soon as the rear brakes are fixed she goes on the block.
