RETIRED
My question wasn't about the pedigree, it is the series. We have ran the 71 and 92 series in our boats for along time. Always seem to have alot of trouble with the heads and valves. Some people blamed it on the high sulfur fuel that we used. We swithced over to the cats (34, 35, and 3600 series with a few John Deeres mixed in. We are still running a few of the older GM--Detroit smaller engines-- just no 60 series. Yes it is getting harder to find a 2-71 headThanks I work @ Detroit Diesel and have built many series 60's in my 20 yrs. And Reaper is correct the company was originally GM Diesel (way back) then changed the name to Detroit then sold the company to Roger Penske who sold it to Daimler Chrysler and when the split happened Diamler kept us because of our profitability thats all![]()
