Well, my registration is due this month and now you can not do it online without having a valid inspection performed. Just a heads up to you guys, if you were like me I haven't had my bike inspected since I bought it. It's just a pain in the ass and nobody checks. Wish I knew about this as I would have done it before the March 1st cutoff.

I've read that after the inspection the website gets the information electronically within 48 hours. The shitty part about a motorcycle requiring this is lately it's either rained, snowed, or icey or I'm out of town on the weekends when I have time to do this. A motorcycle isn't like a car in which regardless of weather you can get to the station. I hope nobody's expires in Jan or February, mine is March which is bad enough.

They passed new legislation. This is what the Texam DMV website says:

our vehicle inspection cannot be verified at this time. If you have a current passing vehicle inspection and have the Vehicle Inspection Report, please bring it to your county tax office. They will verify the vehicle has passed inspection and you will be able to proceed with registration.

If you do not have a current passing vehicle inspection, you will need to have your vehicle inspected at a licensed inspection facility. A passing vehicle inspection is required to obtain registration. After your vehicle has passed inspection you will be able to renew your registration online, by mail or at the county tax office.

Man that sucks! I'm waiting to see when Washington State will require motorcycle inspections. I hope no time soon though... :hi:

On the bright side, it sounds like Texas does inspections on rainy days. :D

Where I am at in Louisiana, no inspections can be done if the road is "wet"! And, it rains a lot down here. Of course, we have very difficult vehicle inspections. Probably, the toughest in the country. They put you through torture inspecting your vehicle.......ok, so all that gets done is to collect your money, look at your license and insurance, take down the mileage, peel off the old sticker, slap on a new one or hand you your motorcycle sticker, and off you go. And, they are good for two years now for $20! :whoop:

Eric, You may remember from your time in MA that all bikes are inspected here in May. At the time of purchase and first registration it can be inspected at that time no mater the month but inspection is only good thru the following May. After that you have to get your inspection done in May before the real riding season hits so they say. Also can't be any approved inspection station has to be an approved motorcycle inspection station. Here too your name will be run thru the system and any unpaid parking or traffic tickets or back child support etc. will have to be paid before you can get the inspection sticker.

Pa. has required inspections all along and mine wasn't done since '07, but tying it into the registration sucks. My son has his Pa. state inspection license, so when I need an inspection, I call him and tell him I'm stopping by for a lick-n-stick, if he refuses me, I just kick his ass.:lol:

I just had mine inspected here in California but that was to transfer ownership and get a California plate, I don't know if I need to do that every year or not, I hope not that would definitely suck!:(

I guess that's one good thing about living in Kansas, no inspections required on motorcycles or vehicles at any time.

Where are you going to put it? Down tube or front shock? Big Dog had a plate that attached where the license plate is, but I don't know if you can get them yet or not, I wonder if Donna or Derek has them.

Just picked up new registration yesterday and nobody said anything regarding inspections. Maybe it pertains to county's that are more populated or already have pollution inspections set up. My copy did say that they do check ELECTRONICALLY to make sure your inspection is still valid. Who knows!!!:job:

And people laughed at me when I formed a Montana LLC ! I sent off all my registration forms Thursday. Lifetime permanent plates, yes that is correct! Total cost $245.00! Oh YA, NO inspection sticker required!!! Yes this is for my RV.

not enough time 4 riding
Virginia has annual safety inspections for cars, light trucks and motorcycles. If you live in certain counties and cities in Virginia you need to get a bi-annual emissions test for cars and light trucks in order to renew your registration.

Yea...Yea I get it. It's really silly is the whole point. Last time I went the guy made me go 40 mph and stop with my front brakes. I looked at him and said, "you really want me to do this? How do you think I got here without using my brakes??" He said "yea I need you to do it".

Just stupid...

Dakota, You know I don't remember that. I just grew up in a small town and took a swing by the bike shop. He was a friend and honked the blinker, and checked the lights and off I went. If that was the case here I would be fine with it. Just another revenue source.

Texas Inspections.

Yes , they changed the law.
tied it to registration.
BUT now there are no stickers required....hooray .
ugly thing is gone off my bikes.
The cost is the same as before( if you got it inspected every year )

yeah cops didn't check, UNLESS you were stopped for something else.
A friend of mine got stopped for a taillight out .

His ticket included ,no inspection sticker, no helmet with no proof of health insurance, and faulty taillight ..Cost was over $400.00

I find things I cant do anything about aint worth worrying about.
