Terrible rattle coming from headlight area

Tyler you FINALLY get a day that you can ride,, and it sounds like its coming apart?? WTF I rode the dog the other night after we talked, did about forty miles without having a single breakdown !! it was a good day, but my pipes still SUK.....

hahaha dangit problems and problems. I took it out tonight and put my ear to the gas tank and wouldnt you believe that the noise is inside the tank. What is involved in solving this vent tube issue?

also, can i do damage if I ride with that vent tube in there rattling around? thanks

Im gonna weld it this winter. Other than that.. tank replacemet ? Cant believe any other damage should occur..

so it seems that I should take it to a shop that can weld it most likely, cause I sure cant get another tank painted to match! ANNYWAYS thanks for the help - the vent tube is in the tank, how are you going to be able to weld inside it? Maybe thats not a problem for a welder I guess...just want to go with as many ideas as i can for the shop. Thanks!

Shouldnt be a problem to get the welder in there. Ill remove tank.. empty fuel out.. rinde with water ... let air out for a couple weeks... try the zzip tie around the nipple for a temp fix..

SO when i look in the tank, assume i'm looking in through the gas cap, what am I going to be looking for, and on what side of the tank? Thank you

Look forward towrds front of tank.. ul see a ledge. U should be able to see the nipple sticking up.. I started mine up and warched the tube wobble ..

Nope, vent pipe is secure. I believe it is the paint saver that needs to be tightened up... Just do not want to mess up the paint...

I felt under there with my finger but didn't feel anything. Just got back from bike night. Didn't have a lot of time to mess with it. Ill get some light down in there tomorrow. Where does it run to? Assuming its attached on the other end but where?

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Looked in the tank and found that the vent tube was intact. Not very stable, but intact still. Took the tank off, and discovered that the rubber tank bushings had rubbed themselves out of round, and worn themselves down completely on one side, and had a terrible vibration and rattle. Took some emory tape and wrapped it tight until everything was fitting tight and re secured the tank....rattle and vibration gone. Will order new bushings, but also discovered that the tank sits directly on the frame, so we'll have to put a strip of 1/8th inch strip of rubber on the frame between the tank and frame.
