Tappet screw laugh....

So, wanted an oil pressure gauge, no problem right? Read all about it on the forum, problems with tappet screw etc...ordered the HD oil plug socket from motion pro....

So today, meanwhile I'm installing insulation in my garage.....decide to take a break from that, smoke a cigarette and do the oil pressure gauge 'real Quick' as a diversion....I've thought this through right?

Well, for some reason, the socket works great on the oil pump valve and relief valve, but for SOME unknown reason, it wouldn't get the tappet screen one off and kept stripping the slot more and more.....so, off I go looking for drag link sockets, and rummaging through my garage again for anything that will work, tried all kinds of metal, BIG SCREW drivers laying all my weight on it with a wrench, etc...tapping on it, penetrating oil etc....

was about to make the tappet screw a hex nut with force....but finally found a drag link socket across town, went and got it, came back, was about to grind it down to make it fit....and I see a 5/8" wood bit laying there and I went hmm-it fit perfectly in the slot sideways........so, I broke the tip off the bit, put it in my 1/2" hollow nut driver, used a 5 ft 1 7/8" pipe as a pry bar on the nut driver and it came right out....right away? Why didn't I start with that??????

Mounting of oil pressure gauge and fittings = 10 minutes

BUT ALL that took about 6 hours....now, back to the insulation.....:whoop:
