tapered cylinder

i am having to replace the head gasket on my 2000 vintage sport. i was told by the authorized bd dealer that it has a tapered cylinder. ho does this work and is it going to create problems for me in replacing gaskets and checking cylinder wear and piston and rings? i do not have much knowledge about bike motors but i figured im tired of waiting months for someone else to fix my stuff so i better learn.

I did a "How To" on my top-end job I did last fall in that section of the forum.

Which one you replacing top or bottom or both. They are totally different as the top gasket is a compression gasket or whatever they call it. You'll need a total top end kit though as you will need to replace the covers gaskets but overall it's an easy job if you have the tools. Little more complicated if you pull the pistons and wrist pins.

You can do it though with help from the group here.
