I am here in SC and been dying to try it since I moved here. For you guys that have done the ride and since I have to option of taking either the BD or the HD, what would you recommend?
I'd suggest the first time, use the Harley. I used my buddies Harley Softail and had no problem. My Softail is just like his and he rides mine when he comes to Florida. If I had my BD Chopper, the corners and switchbacks would have been a lot slower with the extended wheelbase. But the comfort with my long legs would have been nicer.

It's really a great ride no matter what you drive :whoop:.

I did that ride once and it was really cool! I puled my clutch in going down what seemed like a corkscrew turn, It was like a feeling of free falling. Hope to do it again some day.

I did the "Wakin the dragon rally" at punkin center campground a couple of years ago. It was a blast. We rode the dragon and the cherahala skyway. What really stuck out for me on that trip was a crotch rocket was broke down on the side and there was four Harleys pulled over helpin the guy out. It was a site to see...this guy in his blue and white full racin leathers standin there scratchin his head while these four big bikers....Beards chaps vest patches and all were workin on his bike. And everybody in our group was rackin our pipes as we went by. I loved it.

Can't be worse than Needles highway in South Dakota. I've talked to buddies that have done both. Helping difference between the two is the Dragon has banked corners, so I'm told.
The Dragon has WAY more corners than Needles. A lot of the turns a WAY sharper also.
