Tachometer Not working

I have a 06 Pitbull and the tachometer lights stopped working. I took the bezel apart and inspected the tach plug wire as well as the wires soldered to the circuit board. Everything appears to be fine. All tight and no corrosion. The bike has never seen rain or moisture. Any ideas?

I would start by using a multi meter and check to see if you're getting power to the plug. If so, check the soldered point on the back of tach ring for power.

Check the harness ground wire at the connector for continuity to the battery ground post as well.

The circle board with tach and idiot lights is called the annunciator board, and is seperate from the speedo.

I believe this is the tach. that goes around the speedo correct? If so they sell just the lights for thetach that go in the speedo housing

I have a new annunciator ring purchased from BDP if you need one, installed 5 minutes and it wasn't the problem, ended up being the spark plug wires. New price from BDP is around 110.00, your's for 85.00 plus shipping.

BadBrad/BigDogBro1, The ring has power going to it because the idiot lights all work on the ring. Its only the tach lights dont light up. I will check all the grounds though just to makle sure everythings tight.

Rasdes, I will give the grounds a look se to make sure its all tight. If I dont come across anything I will haft to take you up on your offer and buy the annunciator ring.

By the way, were you having the same issue i am when your tach wasnt working?

Check continuity from the connector "B" pin 47 on the EHC harness under the seat
to the annunciator board connection (yellow) tach signal wire.

Not to steal this thread but I to have a question. My tach lights are dim. During the day can't see them at all. At night not to bad. What would cause this problem?

My lights worked they just fluctuated up and down randomly, from 1K to 3k, then off.... going 55 MPH it would register 1K or 3k, sometimes nothing. The spark plug wire's did not suppress the RFI, (TWISTED Red) as soon as I changed them the TACH was normal.

Cody If you have the oil pressure and neutral leds you have the ground side of the circuit. If you have the turn signal and hight beam indicatore you have the positive side of the circuit. The tach wire will read a steady dc voltage when running if you have continuity. I think it was around 7v. If your meter will read frequency you can read the pulse width modulation signal that the ignition module is producing when it is running. If you have to check continuity on the tach wire check it at the green wire on the 3 pin ignition module connector that way you will be checking the EHC connections without disturbing EHC harness and connectors as well.
