Loose connection at tach harness connector or most likely broken tach lead on back of tach ring making at intermittent connection. Common problem many have faced. Requires re-solder or new ring or purchase of complete Medallion speedo/tach replacement from Big Dog ($400). Tach wire is yellow on tach ring. See pic below, mine did same thing. Brand new tach ring is $104 from big dog. I ordered one this week, due here tomorrow. Medallions are on back order or would have gone that route. They look killer. Check the rest too, I also had a broke power wire (red). Mine is 05, assuming you have same tach.

Some time she works and some times she doesn't...any ideas why guys??

Awesome thanks for that, another quick question, does any of those wires relate to the headlight function, my dip has decided not to work and I only replace the bulb not long ago? cheers Tony

Cant answer that one. I have read several posts on headlight issues. Use the search box above and search for "headlight". You'll find lots of good info posted over the years by this sights finest. Has helped me out tremendously.
