Tach problem

Ever since I installed the DD speedo my tach has been erradick, When I speed up my tach moves very fast from say 2500 rpms to 4500 rpms and some times when I am cruising it will shoot up to 5000 rpms in 3rd gear doing 35 mph and when I need to romp on it it always gets into redline territory even though I am in the correct gear for the speed. The speedo is great. I checked the connector inside the speedo, I know they are not connected so I am confused about where to check next. Is the speed sensor connected to it or is there some other wire loose?:flag: Thanks good people for you help in this matter.

dont know why but tach acted crazy when I installed my d.d. speedometer,, the tach would go to working fine 1 min to nuttin the next.. I'd turn it off & restart.. everything worked fine.. so I removed everything to check for some lose connection or if I damaged a pin in the plug.. found nuttin wrong..I reapplied the dilectric greese.. would work fine then start it agin..... I finnally un hooked the battery.. so far it has worked fine.. I rode the dog sun 100 miles worked fine.. I couldnt explain it eather..I PMed a few here & never got a answer,, but it seemed to work after un hooking the battery,, not sure why.. try that.. yeah I know makes no sence....

Eric; I disconnected the battery a few times, still with the same issue. I did notice that if I sit idle and rev on it, no problem; but while I ride it ; that's when it show up. I was lookin through the prints and see that it has to be either the tach itself, ignition, I have a new thunderheart, or the cam sensor. What gives here?

I havent had anymore issues that I'm aware of since I disconnected the battery.. (knock on wood) but when it did it I looked all over for a lose wire or lose plug.. didnt find anything.. not sure wht the D.D. give some tach issues.... but mine sure the hell did,, & as soon as I installed the new speedometer... had to have something to go with it,, but every time I've cranked the dog up or riden it it works for now... like a dam ehc.. you just never know when it will quit.....:bang:
