Tach lights flashing after nailing it

I got this carb'd '09 K9 a few weeks ago. Tonight when I left an intersection, I accellerated pretty hard up to about 70mph or so and when I let off, I noticed my tach lights were flashing no matter what the rpm was. I pulled over right away and shut it off for a minute, then fired it back up and they weren't flashing anymore. On the rest of the way home they weren't flashing but were kinda flickering but it was starting to get dark and I've read the light sensor can cause the flicker. The bike runs fine and was seemed to run fine even during the flashing before I shut it off.
Is the EHC trying to tell me something when it flashes the tach lights like that?

You may have the idle set too low. All the lights in the tach row will flash when this happens...

As Brew be sayin the Tach lights will flash at RPM's less than 950. Its a warning thats set in that at less than that RPM you are at low oil pressure. Your bike should be set at 950 RPM's min idle at full operating temp. Easy to fix just adjust the idle screw/adjusment up a bit. you can't let the Big Dog idle lope to low.

I wasn't sitting there idling when the tach lights were flashing, I was cruising along at highway speeds, after I had just flogged it leaving an intersection. The tach was still registering the engine RPM, but the little tach lights were flashing instead of burning steady.

Mine will flash at when you hit the pre-programmed RPM setting in the EHC. Around 6,000?? I dont think you can change it unless you have a way to program the EHC. Its a little annoying but I have learned to live with it. More annoying is the low RPM setting for me.

I took it for a 30 mile ride today and there was no flashing, so I guess all is well. So it sounds like those tach lights will flash when you rev it out pretty far (6000 rpm)? Hopefully that's the case and the flashing wasn't a symptom of the EHC crapping out or something else. Do these bikes have rev limiters also? I know I didn't hit any rev limiter - any idea where they are set at, if they have one?
Thanks for the help.

If your bike is injected, the rev limiter is set in the VFI module. If it is carbed , I believe it is set in the EHC.
