Let's see, got 30 grand in the bike 10 grand more with add ons got a WOW factor of 50 grand. What was the question again:eek: Change oil once a season or twice?

I run Mobil 1 in my bike , change every 2500 to 3000 and only use K&N filters. I know ALL particulate is thrown out with the old filter.

In a previous Profession i attended training on Synthetic oils, they are modified petroleum base oils the molecules are made essentialy the same size this removes virtualy all of the break down of the oil caused by shearing of the different size molecules. trust me when i tell you that the oil is not worn out in 2500 mile or 5000 or even 10000 miles, the issue becomes contamination. If you really want to extend oil drain intervals sampling and testing is the way to determine useful life but at 4 qts of oil 2500-5000 is safe if you are putting on the miles but if your not dont leave dirty oil in your bike too long. cheap to change 4 quarts.
In my opinion.

Filtration is the key, I agree. This is kind of the answer I was looking for. Would you consider it safe to go 5k miles between changes using a synthetic oil such as Mobil One changing/cleaning (using a replaceable filter) your filter out say every 2500 miles?? This makes sense to me!!!

I would definately say yes provided you are riding a lot, you still don't want to leave combustion contamination in the motor if you only ride infrequently as the filter will not remove these, long rides generating extended high temps help reduce these as well. I am curious what Raywoods position is on this cuz he puts on the miles.
