I have been a bit quiet lately on here. I haven’t had the opportunity to work or ride on my bikes since back in June when my father and I rode to KS for the gathering.
The reason is one hell of a good reason! I’ve decided to go a different direction. I have wanted to move out of the city of Dallas for years and after someone took a left turn into me back in Dec 2017 and I sat in a hospital bed for a few months it’s all I’ve had on my mind, why wait! Just get back to my rural setting roots, done with traffic and just to go for a motorcycle ride if I didn’t have a full day it wasn’t worth it. Took 50 miles to just get out of the city and that was through traffic lights and took over an hour before I was able to cruise. I didn’t have any idea on how to make it work or when!
Well, as anyone who has met me in person my passion lies in motorcycles and Big Dogs are all that sit in my garage. Got my first in March of 2011 when I was 23 years young – an 04 Rigid that I’ll never sell. I knew when I bought it, I would have to learn how to fix it myself I spent all the money I had to get it. Big Dog went out of business 1 month after I bought the bike! Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to talk with Derek and Donna on the phone, just like all of us and get the parts we all need to keep these bikes up and running!
Well, I picked up my things in Dallas left a lot behind, quit my career in the city, and busted my ass over just 2 months to get the 4 bedroom house ready for sale which just went on the market last Friday. Drove 4x the 900 miles back and forth to haul my shit to my new home. A nice small 1 bedroom in the great city of Lyon’s KS! I couldn’t have asked for a better landing spot! It’s a town I have always enjoyed coming to and visiting, where I now reside as of last Monday. I spent last week painting the new house and getting it livable now onto my new shop to get the shit out so I can get it setup for my Big Dog’s!
I now work for HDM! The company which Derek and Donna have built, working tirelessly day and night and have bent over backwards for the Big Dog Motorcycle owner’s community. HDM will strive to continue to work with the OEM manufactures to keep these bikes on the road at a fair price. I will now have the opportunity to learn from Donna and Derek and assist them and help you all on the phone, ultimately getting you the parts you need to keep your bikes running.
Overall, we are going to continue to ensure we can provide the Big Dog community with the BEST parts they need to keep these bikes running. HDM has redesigned parts to make them better and more consistent and will continue to do so. Continue to work with the OEM manufactures to ensure we have the necessary parts in-stock for the owners to get back on the road.
We are kicking around some ideas, which should benefit all of you. My first order of business will be just getting HDM a leg up in technology and the new age of the internet. A little more robust inventory management system for starters!
I look forward to helping you all and seeing you all on the road!
If Donna is on the phone with one customer you might hear me on the other line! Cut me a little slack for just a few weeks!
If anyone thinks I can help them and have any questions, I am here to help serve the Big Dog Owners Community! Give me a shout on my new shop phone.
