Switching from 2 piece tank to a 1 piece

Anyone done this? I have the split tanks on my bike, and looking at the amount of work that could be involved in getting the split tanks ready for paint, I have been toying with the idea of just going to a 1 piece tank.

I have found a few stretched HD softail ones, but Im not sure they will fit. I know I may need to do some mods to the mounting points, but Im wondering will I need to relocate my Thunder heart module thats located under my dash as well? If you have done this, where did you relocate it to?

Hey Jim,
My wife's Mastiff has a one piece tank. In short, the two tanks were welded together and the center plate was modified to about half the length. I'll see if I can find you some pics. I won't be home tonight but will get there tomorrow and take some pics. This is the closest thing I can find right now. You can see some mods, but I'll get you something better by Friday.

Brad, that looks awesome. How did you guys mount the tank in the rear? Im not sure I could do something like this, my left tank is pretty much destroyed, but getting 2 new half tanks and doing the same thing could be another option.
