ok, something i should of checked before putting all this up on here,i decided to pull the airmixture screw out and put the one from my e carb in,and guess what the bike shuts down now when i turn the screw in to the seated postion,go figure,i checked the other screw and without really looking at it i would have never noticed but there was a little of that orange crap inbetween the middle of the screw between the trheads and it wasnt allowing me to screw it in to the seated position, thats why the bike wouldnt shut down like its suppose to..im really sorry guys for putting you all on a wild goose chase... so instead of changing the jet down one i tried to tune it again with the 295 jet in there, and i have the same problem, kinda it ran well, but as temp came down it coughed out the carb on take off a few times and the idle dropped down some, also i have real bad decel popping and crackling now worse then before..so do you guys think i should go back to the 31 inter jet now and try to tune it in? thats what im gonna try tommorrow..any other options or do this first? again i appologize for not checking this air mix screw sooner ...thanks jim
I was just about to suggest the mix screw also... If someone ever over tightened it, the end could get damaged easily and same thing would happen. I think the stuff on the screw is there to prevent you for go too far down.

Yes - the pipes alone should take you to 31 - and Black Dawg is correct about the float. Seems to be common problem on 05-06 with after fire on start up. When bike is on kickstand and leaning left fuel can drip down. Check flot and needle. Had the same problem on mine and was an easy fix, never popped again.

well i think i have it right now with the 31 inter and 76 jet..i took the bike for a ride in the daytime and it ran great..now i have to wait til tonight when the temp is down and see what happens,if it sneezes at idle out the carb ill turn the screw out a little, and take it from there..thanks guys for all your help..jim

31/76 would be pretty close for a stock engine with only pipes. I'm at 33/78 with my combo and I'm in thinner air than sea level and the bike runs flawlessly. If I was at sea level, an 80 might be appropriate for my engine, but I have a cam upgrade too.

Right-on Gas Man! I had all those tech support pdf files and talked a lot with a few mechanics in my local area.

I had the same problem with my 2005 Chopper and 2007 K9 with Super-G carbs after I added the Spike and V&H Big Radius pipes. I had the 2750 RPM cough and some pops etc. After installing a .076 Main and a .032 intermediate, they ran great.

I still get pops now and then. But, with a slight 1/8 turn on the mixture up or down depending on the change in temp & pressure it clears out. I find I have to change it after about a 10 deg difference in air temp.

Have a similar setup - D&M, recently changed to the V&H 2-1 pipes...31/78 works well for me...bike would choke a bit with a 76. (In NJ not to far from you or Blitz - and am running one step down from him)

I'm sure you do but....don't forget to re-adjust the carb once you change the jets:lol:

Ohmster instructed me to put a 74 main jet( had an .076 main) and a .031 intermediate in my G carb. I run the K&N air filter with the stock A/C cover with the BDM louvered plate in it and the stock exhaust with all 4 baffle plugs removed. Now my acc pump screw is 2 turns out from seated and my A/F screw is 2 1/4 turns out from stalling and my idle is at 1000. Mine runs great and no de-cellpopping after Ohmster told me to keep turning the A/F screw out very slowly till the de-cell quit, and it's been great since. I also switched to the NGK plugs as well . If your carb won't die when turning your A/F screw all the way in you definitely have an issue somewhere else. MY 2 cents. Below is Ohmster's reply to my question on how to stop de-cellpopping.....

Tune it a bit more and let me know what you think. Also, what plugs are you running atm? That can make a difference. I would run the stock champion plugs or I would upgrade to some NGK plugs mixed in with your jetting and pipes and you should be golden then. Keep me posted.
