Super G Carb Question?

Ok so thought I had a small exhaust leak and did in the front exhaust port. Just once again bolts b.aking out so tightened them up to specs and thought I fixed the problem. Well it does run smoother and no more exhaust leak but now when I first choke and start my bike the intake is sucking a lot of air making that hissing sound. Once I let choke back in goes away. I used to have ALOT of pooping at decal but once I fixed exhaust leak not as mush but is still there.

Question.............

I am going to reset carb and see if I can adjust it out. Don't know what size jets are in it but does this sound like a simple adjustment needed or maybe re-jetting? Been awhile since I have been working on my bike so just asking in advance if anyone else has had this.

Oh and yes I have the Spike Intake so not the stock so I know this may cause it too if it was never re-jetted. Away as stated going to trouble shoot in the morning just getting a census on what everyone else thinks!

Thanks!!:2thumbs:

I don't have a carbureted dog but most of members here recommend to not use the choke to turn the bike on.

I'm no mechanic but I follow a few basic principles, as one S&S tech once said - if you're having trouble with tuning a set of dragpipes, then don't try to "fix" your carb or intake or whatever, just fix the pipes (i.e. replace them)!

To be more specific about your decel pop - short pipes tend to do just that.
Also that Spike Intake might just push too much air, creating a lean condition -> hence creating the decel pop.

If you have the correct jets and bike is running fine except decel, you might try to open the Idle mixture screw just a tiny little bit to make the mixture richer.

I currently have a bunch of short pipes and after trying different jets I came to the conclusion that a little pop on decel every now and then won't hurt anyone. Bike runs great otherwise.

Good luck!

Thanks for that! You are right but after tinkering with the settings it now runs better and only has very small decel pop but nothing like it did. Whoever had the bike before me just didn't know how to set it up. The even left the bowl vent in and instead of taking it out with new set up they just capped it off with a rubber plug!!

Thanks again for all the input!
