Suggestions on Squeak location

Bike makes a distinct squeaking noise somewhere below battery box and towards the rear near the exhaust tips during decceleration and when I'm not on the throttle. Does not squeak at all when I'm on the throttle or pull the clutch lever. I'm going to place a thin rubber pad between the exhaust bracket and frame bracket, even though I have them tightened down so much that I don't see how this could be it. Could this squeak be coming from the clutch pushrod or somewhere from the tranny?

The dreaded belt squeak? Rub a bar of soap on the inner and outer edge of the belt and see what happens.....
I kind of ruled that out just because I figured if it was the belt, would'nt it squeak at all times?......

Nevermind, I just read the belt chirp thread. I'll go ahead and treat it as a belt issue and hopefully that's the culprit and I can go ahead and fix it.

Check your fender stay bolts. Mine squeaked like a mother when one was loose.
Will do. I had the bike torn down over the winter to just frame, motor, and tranny. I finished putting it all back together around 4th of july and went over every bolt with a torque wrench and proper loctite. So I'm pretty sure all the bolts should be tightened down to spec since I'm a little ocd.

Did you realign the motor, trans and rear pulley when you reassembled? I had the nasty chirp before I tore the Pit down. I realigned everything, made sure the belt was true forwards and backwards and haven't heard a sound since. And I can understand the ocd!!

If all else fails to fix it pull the clutch throw out rod check it for scouring and out of round. It should be well lubed as well.

That's exactly what I've been thinking is causing the noise (I was calling it the clutch pushrod). There's not much info in the manual on how to do it. Can I leave the sprocket cover plate and clutch cable attached, and just unscrew the pushrod cover from the cover plate to remove the clutch pushrod?

so i just purchased an 03 mastiff and I'm having the same issue and don't know much about the mech of bikes. did you ever find out what it actually was?
