My battery went from happy to dead in a flash yesterday. Went out for a ride, all was well. Had just adjusted my clutch and the slipping was gone, I was all grins! Got home and ran inside to take care of some things. Went back out 10 minutes later, hit the start button, get about half an engine crank, then dead! My lights come back real dim and my WP unit is buzzing like a bee. Disconnected everything and started troubleshooting the WP thinking that had to be part of the problem. First step, as always - check voltage. 10.1v !?!?! WTF!?! Take the battery out and test a small 12v lamp and it won’t even light that. Won’t take a charge either. Toasted cell I'm assuming, voltage is about right. It was a Drag Specialties that came with the bike. It's been struggling real bad since my CR's have been toast for a while.
Started working on things and next thing I know half the bike's on the floor, the WP is cut out completely. Today saw the switch over to S & S Rocker Boxes as well as the new CR's. Even made a DIY CR tool which I'll post details about soon. During the week I'm hoping to get the M-unit wired up and get a feel for it. Oh yeah, went out and bought a Harley AGM battery today, on Sunday no less. Going to give that a run for a while as it’s an awfully convenient solution.
