Stripping the paint/powdercoat off my frame?

I gotta strip my frame down to the bare metal up around the neck. I put a torch to it and it looks like it's powdercoated. Is the best way to just have at it with a grinder, or is there a chemical stripper I can use?

I don't guess aircraft paint remover would do the trick? I know that it is pretty nasty stuff on paint, but not sure about powdercoating...

Find a local place that uses the acid dip. Frame and swingarm is around $150 to dip and light media blast.

Navy powder-coats most stuff now a days on Subs and when we have to re coat them all the parts are sand/media blasted clean.

Yeah alhall is right on the best way, but to do that you will have to completely tear the bike down as well. Just as I did last year.

Gas did you have your frame sandblasted or did they chemical strip it? I may just rattle can the thing when I get it back. It will look like shit up close but I'm not sure I wanna powdercoat it when I plan on tearing it all apart again next winter!

Mine was acid dipped and re powdered.

Man you already got it tore down... do it right this time around. Acid dip it, do the cut and weld. Get it re powder coated. You'll thank me later.
