So i replaced my compression release in my friont cylinder. everything was going fine. I got everything back together until i tightened the 2 hex head bolts closet to the compression release. I set my toiirque wrench to 11 ft lbs and tightened the higher bolt. moved on to the lower bolt....Im not sure if my torque wrench went screwy or what, but I felt the bolt give. i removed the bolt and sure as shit the threads from inside came out with it. Does anybody know if I can do anything about this? It will tighten a little, but not much. Fuck!!

Did you tighten them first or last in the sequence?
Drill the hole and drop a thread repair in it. Just use grease on the drill and tap to keep all the shavings on the bits.

I agree with Frank. Try a longer bolt, just make sure it doesn't bottom out before it tightens. I have 3 striped out on mine, and that worked. When I have the engine out this winter, I'll rethread mine.

Gonna have to Retap the hole, and perhaps a Heli-coil Insert and some Red Loctite to hold it in place, a DROP or 2 of Red Loctite will do........

I'm gonna try a longer bolt. I was gonna ask if that was a possibility. If not I guess I'll have to helicoil it. Thanks for the help.:2thumbs:
