Stripped button head socket screws (03 chopper and others im sure)

Just wanted to say the button head socket screws used on the brake rotors (and other locations) are garbage. They are way too easy to strip. Been working through a rebuild of my 03 chopper and I've stripped several of them throughout. Ive been swapping them for new socket cap head wherever possible.

The socket cap heads take a larger allen key for the same size bolt and its close but there is enough clearance between the rotor and caliper bracket for the larger head. They are much more durable. Just wanted to rant a little I'm doing the rear wheel today and stripped another one lol

Also yes I'm using the correct size key that fits well and also applying heat.

If anyone needs any tips on removing one the these bastards that strips let me know I'm pretty much an expert as this point lmao

Heat and an impact gun. Jars it loose.

But I agree -- I hate button head socket screws -- I have stripped more than my fair share over the years and especially on the Dog.
Still have the one on the belt guard thats managled so I can't remove belt guard. Got to get that thing out of there one of these days.

Yeah I got the same one on the belt guard. Had to re- tap the fram for that one and replace the bolt

Here's some pics of the front wheel rotor with the cap heads. I removed the hub and rotor, replaced the bearings, cleaned the wheel inside and out repolished and replaced the rotor bolts. The forks and brake caliper are new via hdm.

Working on the rear wheel now. I only have a few hours a week free to work on my bike but I do everything myself and I enjoy it.
