Stretch Wrap

I am going to Bike Week from Chicago and will be trailering my bike on an (open) Kendon Standup trailer. Thinking about trying to stretch wrap the bike to keep it clean from salt and dirt.

Cover the bike with coton materials and ten wrap it.

Any better ideas?

I would be afraid of getting air into the wrap seams and having it blow up like a balloon.

In the past I have blanketed the bike, covered with plastic sheeting and wrapped the hell out of it with cord. Worked for me.

I know we all have to do what we have to do but that awesome looking bike looks like it is barely on that rig... I'm nervous just looking at a picture of it. Good luck and be safe.

I've done this one year going to Daytona with shrink wrap and if you pull it tight and wrap from the rear to front so the leading edge is covered, air won't get under it. It does stay tight however take a scissors with you to cut it off cause you don't want to cut it off with a knife. Also it lets kinda an oily residue on the bike so a light detailing is needed. Still beats the road grim.

Consensus is to not cover bike, here is the reason:Lets just say for 1000 miles you travel ,the cover shifts and moves with ever vibration, bump, turn, stop, acceleration ect. ect. ect....Can you imagine the damage that will be done from the cover rubbing up and down ,back and forth on the paint and polished aluminum????? And For real like Toodie implyed above ...that trailer looks as though it doesnt have 1 square inch left to sacrifice .......There is no way I would put my bike on that trailer even if it was to go around the corner cause I ran outta gas......

I was too but before purchasing the bike I checked with the trailer manufacturer and they said it was OK. But again it is not their bike that falls off.

I did bring it back to Chicago from Houston without a problem although it is tailend heavy.

I'd be real careful especially making turns with that trailer.
Before you arrive for bike week I'd lose the reflectors.....just sayin

Awesome looking bike and one of my favorite paint schemes..I'd be afraid that it would come loose and wear at the paint.

Don't stretch wrap it. The dude who did and made it got really lucky. If it gets even a little loose it will take paint down to bare steel in no time at all. Ask me how I know. Trailer it open and clean it when you get there.

Agrees with all these guys,
Clean it when you get there is much, much better than dumping it of that trailer say at 75 miles an hour and/or rubbing that beutiful paint job, scuffing any parts up on it!!!!!! Rent a uhaul trailer, better to "B" safe than ruin your entire trip and screw up that beutiful scooter. My son in law has my trailer in Georgia right now hauling his brand new HD visiting some friends. He had to learn the hard way after he dumped the suzuki 1000 almost new as well, on the trailer after he didn't tie it down like it should have been done. I wouldn't let him ride my scooter on the trailer but I would let him tie it down anytime. He really learned from that mistake. I would ride it to Daytona and back before I would take any chances of messing your scooter up. Any chance at all !!!!!!!! My scooter was hauled on a ratty looking trailer( not calling your trailer ratty looking but this one really was ratty looking) about 70 miles when the ECH died. I was praying all the way home, "Please just get it home without it getting dumped off the trailer or any other bad thing today"!!!!! in Jesus' name I am praying, Amen!!!!
We got home safely,, thank God!!! Wire plus replaced the ECH that fried!!!! Scooter is in the gargage!!!! My Truck,Wife's truck, neighbors truck, little brothers two trucks with 2" balls on them and trailer is usually in my gargage too, son in law has a better trailer now and there is one in the barn at my mom's house. My Ridge back will fit on a 5' x 8' trailer but you have to go corner to corner with it, which requires picking the tail end up and scooting it over.

Have a great time in Daytona,
Ride safe,
Ray :2thumbs:

I trailered mine on a open aluminum single mc trailer from Reno to Sioux Falls, So Dak, for my annual visit. 1700 miles one way. I cleaned and waxed it prior to leaving and then bagged the hand controls with plastic and duct tape. (Learned :bang:and did the speedo for the return trip). Went through serious multiple rain storms each trip (both ways). Looked like crap at the end of each trip...but a couple hours of cleaning there and at home and it looked good again. I don't think I would consider wrapping the whole bike, if you don't have access to an enclosed trailer. A couple hours of cleaning is alot better than trying to find someone to match you beautiful paint job at $$$$$.

I trailer down from Milwaukee every year on an open aluma fold up trailer. I put some foam on the mirrors. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Thermwell-Products-Foam-Pipe-Insulation/dp/B000BQY9Z0]Amazon.com: Thermwell Products 6' Foam Pipe Insulation (Pack Of 50) Pipe Insulation: Home Improvement[/ame]
I also use about 8 straps. Good to go. :)

Not worth the risk of damaging your paint.

Tow it nakkid and hire a bikini bike wash team to clean it up when you get there : >)

I've never had to trailer my bike a long distance but is that a good idea to run the straps over the primary like that? I would think that unprotected strap would scuff the aluminum???

Any BD Bikers see you there they'll probably raz you for your down tube stickers- just a heads up-
