stolen Ridgeback

Hate to hear of your loss. Now I don't feel so bad about missing the rally, knowing there were thieves running around stealing bad ass bikes just makes me sick. Just like a friend of mine said to me one day when I saw he left his key in his Harley..."they'll steal yours before they steal mine". It's sad that you can't even go out and enjoy yourself anymore on your own ride and have to worry about someone stealing your shit. Post some pics so if by some chance the tins or wheels or something comes up around town.

Hope everything work out for you. Even if you have all of your i's dotted and t's crossed it's still frustrating to come back and someone has stolen your bike or anything that belongs to you. Sound like it's time fofr an upgrade.

Who needs stink'n keys

Did you leave the key in it?
KEY? Who needs a key? I was sitting at a gas pump and a guy said "nice bike, what kind is it" we started talking and he then said "listen, you need to change out that ignition switch, I can start that bike and ride away in less than 5 seconds. Well, since i was sitting on the bike and didn't believe him anyway, I said "How". He pulled out a little feeler gauge from his pocket, walked up to me, slid it into the ignition and wiggled it a little.... BINGO!!! POWER!

So, if my bike was sitting somewhere, even amung other bikes and bikers, he could come up and sit on it (like he owned it), reach down like he was putting in the key, start it up and ride away and NO one would know or suspect. These bikes are RIDICULOUSLY easy to start/steal. He recommended a barrel switch.

I asked him what he did for a living...... Repo Man.

Think about it though all it takes on a barrel swith is to stick a pen in and turn...bye bye bikey
I set up a toggle swith in line with the ignition switch and hid it.

Wow.. that sucks. I wonder if it was snatched with an enclosed trailer, or if it was ridin. I would think it would take more of a professional thief to steal a bike like a Ridgeback.

Not just anybody looking for a joyride can safely operate a ridgeback. I would think it was a team of guys that took yer bike. A buddy/co-worker of mine had his CBR stolen a couple years ago. Was found a few blocks away after it had been laid down. Was a kid who took it for a joyride :bang:

Nothin worse than a thief..... well besides peope that hurt children. I cannot stand a mother fucker that takes shit somebody else sweated for & earned. :bang: I hope they catch the bastard, and he does time. Piece of shit :angry:

With our network we should have a BOLO area. You have pictures of your bike and Tins? Just an Idea

.

Most of the people i've seen handle a 330 are not the type of people I would want to get caught stealing something from. I'm surprised someone would steal such a high profile bike. A head turner like a Ridgeback seems like the first bike someone would get noticed on.

the thief must have big balls or no brains to steel a dog and ride away with the looks you get on them

Sorry to hear that man, I know first hand how you feel been there done that! I would have to say it worked out though. It got me out of the rice rockets and into a mans machine. I installed a scorpio alarm more for piece of mind. Hope it works out for you my insurance company really did well for me hope yours does the same

Cheap Security Fix - FWIW - I have a simple kill switch in the bottom of the side covers + I always carry a small padlock in my bag that fits in the hole of the rotors - always use it when the bike is out of sight....

The silver lining is you'll get a K9 - great bike.

This has been a problem at the lone star rally in the past as their are so many little side streets and back alleys with bikes parked that the cops cant really patrol them all. Plus they are way more interested in towing some bros bike off the strand cuz his front wheel is parked 2 inches over the line :job:
I always try and and park in the big grass lots a couple blocks off the strand and use a disk lock/alarm. Always lots of people coming and going and no way can a crook get close enough with a truck to trailer it off...

Dude that SUCKS. LoJack is definitely way to go. 2 of my buds have them in their AIH's. One of them learned the hard way...he had his first AIH stolen from MB 07. Surrounded it with 6 Harleys, they moved the Harleys and CARRIED his bike away...It is pricey but the 800 installed is worth it. It is normally hidden on the bike. When you notify them it was stolen, they activate an FM transmitter (I believe) and it takes the cops STRAIGHT to the bike. I have a caliper lock also. Thats kinda scary about the igintion switch also...may have to hide an inline toggle...

I agree with the BOLO...we should be doing this for sure.

Sorry to hear about your loss man, and kinda makes me glad I skipped the rally this year too. You always hear about bike thefts at big rallies though, and this one is no different. When i do go I am careful where I park, and usually put my bike in the room with me at night.

Hope eveything works out ok.
